Scam Warning: Hall Recruitment Is Not Recruiting via WhatsApp or Telegram
We have recently been made aware of a recruitment scam currently circulating in Ireland. While no incidents have been reported involving Hall Recruitment, there has been a noticeable increase in scams targeting jobseekers by impersonating legitimate recruitment agencies.
These fraudsters often use real company names, copied logos, and sometimes even staff names to appear credible. Their goal is simple: to convince jobseekers to hand over money and/or personal information.
Hall Recruitment: What We Do (and Don’t Do)
To prevent confusion, here is what you should know about how we operate:
We do not recruit via WhatsApp
Hall Recruitment does not approach candidates through WhatsApp about job opportunities. If someone contacts you on WhatsApp claiming to represent us, you should treat it as suspicious.
We do not have Telegram
Hall Recruitment does not have a Telegram account. We will never contact candidates through Telegram.
We do not charge candidates
Hall Recruitment does not charge candidates for our services. We will never ask for:
- “activation fees”
- payments to access training
- deposits to secure a role
- payments to unlock work
If money is being requested, it is not legitimate recruitment.
We recruit in Ireland only
Hall Recruitment does not work with companies for opportunities outside of Ireland. If an overseas role is being offered under our name, it is not us.
We recruit for specific corporate commercial roles
Hall Recruitment recruits within the following fields for corporate commercial roles only:
- HR
- Administration / Office Support
- Facilities Management
- Accounting & Finance
- Legal
- Supply Chain & Logistics
If the “role” being described is outside these areas — particularly vague online tasks, commission-based schemes, or “review/product boosting” work — it is not connected to Hall Recruitment.
Common Signs of a Recruitment Scam
Fraudulent messages often include:
- Unsolicited contact via WhatsApp or Telegram
- Promises of high earnings for minimal effort
- Vague duties (e.g., “product boosting”, “market research”, “reviewing items”)
- Requests to register on unfamiliar websites
- Any request for payment, however small
A good rule of thumb: real recruitment is about matching people to real jobs — not paying money to access “tasks”.
What to Do if You Receive a Suspicious Message
If you are contacted by someone claiming to be Hall Recruitment:
- Do not share personal details (ID, PPSN, bank details, copies of documents).
- Do not click unknown links or register on unfamiliar platforms.
- Do not send any payment.
- Contact us directly through our official website or known phone/email details to verify.
If you believe you have encountered a scam, you can report it to An Garda Síochána and the National Cyber Security Centre.
A Seasonal Reminder
Scams tend to spike around holiday periods when people are busy, tired, and more likely to act quickly. Please use due diligence over the holidays — we don’t want to see anyone losing money to something that looks “nearly legitimate” at first glance.
If you’re unsure about any message claiming to be from Hall Recruitment, contact us through our official channels and we’ll advise.
