Student Accommodation Assistant Manager (Evenings)

About the Role
We are recruiting a Student Accommodation Assistant Manager to support the wellbeing and safeguarding of international students living in student accommodation. Working evenings during the academic year, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming environment: greeting students on return, carrying out communal area checks, monitoring curfew adherence, and offering guidance or a listening ear when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the houseparent(s) on duty to provide consistent evening support.
- Greet students at reception; build rapport and encourage open communication.
- Undertake regular checks of kitchens and communal areas to ensure cleanliness and order.
- Monitor evening returns and curfew; complete quiet-hours and room presence checks.
- Liaise with guardians where a student is unwell or support is required.
- Share reminders on school schedules, events, and key notices with clarity and discretion.
- Support late-running school or accommodation events when required.
- Maintain accurate notes and basic reports on any incidents or notable welfare concerns.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Work with Young People (3+ Years)
- Minimum three years’ experience supporting or leading youth groups (e.g., Scouts/Guides, sports clubs, schools, community programmes).
- Proven Youth Leadership
- Demonstrable leadership of groups of children/young people, including setting boundaries and ensuring adherence to rules.
- Garda Vetting
- Previously Garda vetted and willing to complete a new Garda vetting as an essential requirement of this role.
- Administration & Reporting
- Capable of writing concise incident notes and basic reports; strong record-keeping and attention to detail.
- IT Proficiency
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confidence using email and shared files.
- Communication & Conduct
- Clear, empathetic communicator with discretion; committed to safeguarding and professional standards at all times.
- Availability
- Ability to work two evening shifts per week (6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) on a Monday–Sunday rota across the academic year.
