About the Job
The Student Support Officer will play a crucial role in the integration and support of international students within the school. This role requires managing various administrative tasks, supporting student welfare, and ensuring compliance with immigration regulations. You will be the key contact for students and their families, helping them navigate school life and academic requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage student documentation, including letters (GNIB/PPS), bank account applications, and other essential paperwork.
- Liaise with students, families, and guardians to gather necessary information and follow up when required.
- Assist students in creating timetables and resolving Moodle queries.
- Provide daily pastoral support, escalating concerns to the Year Head or Head of Pastoral Care as needed.
- Organise and deliver an orientation programme for international students, with follow-up sessions for late arrivals.
- Maintain and update the international student handbook and Moodle pages related to student support.
- Assist students with university applications, including personal statement guidance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 3-5 years of administrative experience in a school, college, or higher education institution.
- Minimum 3 years of experience using the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) within an educational environment.
- At least 2 years of experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Moodle, handling student queries and support.
- 2+ years of experience directly supporting international students in a school or college setting, including liaising with families and guardians abroad.
- Minimum 2 years of experience creating and managing academic schedules or timetables in an educational institution.
- 2+ years of pastoral care or welfare support experience for students, with a focus on students living away from home, in a school or college.
- At least 2 years of experience managing student records and immigration compliance documentation (e.g., GNIB, PPS) with a strong focus on accuracy and confidentiality in an educational setting.
