Solicitor – Healthcare

About the Job

We are currently seeking an experienced Healthcare Solicitor to join the Healthcare division of our client’s law firm. This role involves delivering high-level legal services to clients within the healthcare sector, particularly in advising and representing regulatory bodies, public sector clients, and professional regulators in Fitness to Practise complaints and Statutory Inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent regulatory bodies in Fitness to Practise complaints and Statutory Inquiries.
  • Provide legal advice to public bodies and professional regulators concerning their statutory duties.
  • Present preliminary applications to Committees of Inquiry.
  • Offer healthcare advisory services, including drafting detailed legal advice on healthcare law and regulatory issues.
  • Manage and maintain strong client relationships with public sector clients, ensuring the highest standard of service delivery.
  • Generate and sustain knowledge management resources and precedents within the professional regulation and healthcare sectors.

Fitness to Practise Complaints: This involves acting for regulatory bodies and handling cases where healthcare professionals’ ability to practise is under scrutiny due to complaints or allegations of misconduct, incompetence, or other issues affecting their professional conduct.

Statutory Inquiries: The role includes representing clients during formal inquiries conducted by regulatory bodies, which are typically mandated by law to investigate specific matters related to healthcare practices or incidents.

Healthcare Advisory Services: The position requires providing detailed legal advice on a wide range of healthcare law issues, including regulatory compliance, professional conduct, and other legal obligations specific to the healthcare sector.

Public Sector and Regulatory Bodies Advice: The role involves advising public bodies and professional regulators on their statutory duties and legal obligations, ensuring that they operate within the legal frameworks governing healthcare services.

Regulatory Compliance: The solicitor will be expected to guide and ensure that healthcare entities comply with relevant regulations and legal standards, which could include aspects of patient safety, data protection, and ethical standards.
