Rapid Response Vehicle Technician

Hours: 5 days on / 3 days off
Work Environment: Field-based (company van provided)
Salary: €43,800 Base + Shift Allowance & Overtime – OTE up to €55,000

About the Job

As a Rapid Response Vehicle Technician, you will be the first point of contact for drivers experiencing mechanical issues on the road. Whether it’s a battery failure, a flat tyre, or another minor fault, you’ll diagnose the problem and carry out a quick fix to get them moving again.

This is not heavy-duty repair work – it’s about practical, on-the-spot solutions and reassuring customers in stressful situations. If you’re an experienced Mobile Vehicle Technician, Roadside Vehicle Technician, or Field-Based Auto Technician, this is a fantastic opportunity to put your skills to use in a dynamic, customer-facing role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to on-the-road vehicle issues
  • Diagnose faults and carry out minor repairs such as battery replacements and tyre changes
  • Reassure drivers and clearly explain the problem and solution
  • Manage jobs independently, receiving tasks via a digital system
  • Coordinate with the support team to ensure fast response times
  • Maintain high service standards while working efficiently
  • Look after company equipment and ensure the van is in top condition

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Full B Driving Licence – BE Licence is an advantage (reimbursement available)
  • QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Motor Mechanics (or equivalent)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge – confident diagnosing and fixing common faults
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to reassure and assist drivers under pressure
  • Customer-focused approach – friendly, professional, and trustworthy
  • Ability to work independently – managing your own jobs without supervision

Desirable Skills

  • Experience as a Mobile Mechanic, Motor Assistance Technician, or Vehicle Support Technician
  • Knowledge of battery replacements, tyre fitting, and quick mechanical fixes
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach

Before You Apply

To be eligible, you must have a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Motor Mechanics (or an equivalent recognised qualification).

A Full B Driving Licence is required. If you do not have a BE Licence, the company offers a reimbursement scheme to help you obtain it.
