Project and Financial Accountant

Contract: Permanent
Position: Full-Time
Hours Per Week: 37.5 Hours Per Week

About the Role

We are seeking a Project and Financial Accountant to join a dynamic and commercially focused finance team. This role combines traditional financial responsibilities with project-based initiatives, offering variety and the chance to drive meaningful improvements. As part of the team, you will handle financial reporting, budgeting, and reconciliations, as well as support system migrations and other operational projects.

The ideal candidate will bring solid commercial accounting experience and a proactive approach to solving challenges. If you enjoy diving into the details while also contributing to strategic decision-making, this position is the perfect blend of technical and business-focused accounting.

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break)
Salary: €50,000 – €55,000 per year

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, handle balance sheet reconciliations, and oversee accounts payable/receivable processes.
  • Budgeting: Lead the preparation and review of annual budgets, monitor performance, and support budget holders with insights.
  • Project Involvement: Participate in system migration projects, such as transitioning to a new MIS system, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Audit Support: Manage the preparation of statutory accounts and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Business Insights: Perform cost analysis for business streams and provide financial insights to drive performance improvements.

What You Need to Succeed

Essential Requirements

  • Professional Qualification: Fully qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
  • Relevant Degree: A 2:1 minimum in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Commercial Accounting Experience: Demonstrated experience in a commercially focused role, preferably in a dynamic business environment.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with accounting systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organisational and analytical skills to manage competing priorities effectively.

Desirable Skills

  • Sage System Knowledge: Familiarity with Sage software or similar systems.
  • Project Accounting: Experience with financial oversight of projects or system implementations.
