ICT Technician/Engineer

About the Job:

This temporary 6 month position, involves a range of responsibilities centred around the reception, installation, and maintenance of ICT equipment within data centres and network environments. The ICT Technician/Engineer will handle hardware installation, cabling, equipment configuration, and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Goods Reception and Installation Planning:

  • Collect and move equipment from the receiving department to designated areas.
  • Unpack and prepare equipment for installation.
  • Coordinate with Facility Management for installation planning.

Hardware Installation:

  • Install and integrate system extensions, including cabling and documentation.
  • Perform physical installation and dismantling of hardware in data centres.

Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Handle internal/external support requests via the Lab Ops ticketing tool.
  • Troubleshoot hardware-related issues and ensure network security compliance.
  • Participate in the on-call rota as required.

Data Centre Supervision and Maintenance:

  • Supervise and maintain data centres and network environments.
  • Interface with third-party suppliers for hardware support issues.
  • Manage storage areas for cabling and spare parts.

Surplus Equipment Handling:

  • Perform surplus handling activities and prepare equipment for transportation.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A third-level technical qualification or a minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant role.
  • Familiarity with data centres from an ICT perspective.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, decommissioning, and repurposing IT hardware.
  • Good understanding of operational health and safety in IT environments.
