Job Overview
A leading industrial HR management company is seeking an experienced HR Director to lead its human resources operations and drive strategic HR initiatives. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the HR Director will work closely with senior leadership and department heads, providing crucial support and guidance on HR matters across the company. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to influence HR practices, ensuring compliance, enhancing employee engagement, and aligning HR functions with organisational goals. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a similar leadership position, along with expert knowledge of WRC and Irish employment legislation.
As HR Director, you will be responsible for overseeing HR operations, developing policies, handling employee relations, and providing advisory support. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who is both strategic and hands-on, eager to make an impact in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Management
Lead and manage the HR team, including HR administrators and generalists, ensuring HR operations meet organisational needs. - Learning & Development
Direct the L&D function, implementing software systems and ensuring ongoing training programmes align with company goals. - Incident & Accident Management
Actively manage workplace incidents and accidents, focusing on risk reduction and minimising insurance claims. - Employee & Industrial Relations (ER & IR)
Oversee disciplinary and grievance processes, conduct investigations, and provide guidance on outcomes in compliance with legal requirements. - Performance Management
Manage performance review processes for HR and other departments, ensuring consistency and alignment with organisational objectives. - HR Advisory Services
Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, departments, and employees on HR matters, supporting daily operations and decision-making. - Compliance & Documentation
Ensure HR processes comply with regulatory standards; maintain documentation databases and prepare monthly reports. - Redundancy Management
Oversee redundancy processes, including documentation, consultations, and legal compliance. - Policy Development
Develop, update, and implement HR policies in line with legislative changes and industry best practices. - Union Relations
Manage union interactions, including negotiations and issue resolution. - TUPE Process
Lead the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) procedures, ensuring due diligence and process integrity. - GDPR Compliance
Oversee GDPR policies, provide guidance on data protection issues, and ensure HR practices align with privacy laws. - Strategic Participation
Actively contribute to strategic planning, cross-departmental initiatives, and decision-making at the executive level. - Industry Representation
Represent the company in industry association meetings and on relevant labour committees.
Requirements
- Professional Qualification in HR
CIPD qualification or equivalent is required. - Minimum of 5 Years of HR Experience
Experience in a similar senior HR role with a focus on compliance, employee relations, and strategic HR. - Knowledge of Irish Employment Law
Strong knowledge of WRC guidelines, Irish employment legislation, and industrial relations. - Unionised Environment Experience
Background in working with unionised organisations is an advantage. - High Computer Literacy
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with HRIS systems is highly advantageous. - Strong Communication Skills
Excellent verbal and written skills, with an ability to advise across levels. - Attention to Detail & Resilience
High level of detail orientation, with the resilience to work in a dynamic and sometimes high-pressure environment. - GDPR and Confidentiality Knowledge
Familiarity with GDPR compliance and confidentiality principles.
