Overview:
Hall Recruitment is seeking a passionate and driven Group Transport & Logistics Specialist on behalf of our client, a leading European construction solutions company. This role is essential in supporting the transport, logistics, and supply chain functions across multiple engineering and construction project locations in Ireland.
A Day in the Life:
As a Group Transport & Logistics Specialist, your day will start with:
- Coordinating deliveries and booking materials for various project sites.
- Liaising with project teams to address any transport or shipping queries and ensure all materials are delivered on time.
- Collaboration with procurement and commercial teams to monitor supplier interactions and ensure compliance with customs procedures.
- Throughout the day, you will update and maintain transportation booking systems, track transport costs, and create requisitions in SAP.
- Regular meetings with the Group Transport & Logistics Manager will help refine strategies and improve processes, contributing to the seamless operation of transport and logistics across all project locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Group Transport & Logistics Manager to develop a centralised transport and logistics strategy.
- Act as the main point of contact for all project teams regarding transport and shipping-related queries and activities.
- Coordinate the delivery and booking of materials to various warehouse locations.
- Work closely with procurement and commercial teams to manage interactions with suppliers and freight forwarders.
- Develop and maintain a standardised transportation booking and recording system for all freight requirements, including road, sea, air freight, and project cargo.
- Ensure compliance with customs clearance procedures and maintain accurate tracking records.
- Create requisitions and complete service entries/goods receipting in SAP and ERP systems.
- Monitor transport costs to ensure expenses align with approved budgets.
- Continuously seek innovative ways to improve business outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Business diploma/Industry qualification or relevant transport & logistics industry experience (minimum 3 years).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of freight forwarding and import procedures.
- Experience with SAP and the ability to use Excel for cost and KPI analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks.
- Experience in a similar role within an engineering or construction company.
- Understanding of customs compliance procedures, tariff classification, and regulations.
