Position at a Glance

About the Role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance operations and ensure accurate, compliant reporting across the business. This role requires a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent) with proven hands-on ownership of payroll, AP/AR, and statutory compliance in Ireland.

You will partner closely with leadership to enhance financial controls, deliver timely management information, and uphold best practice in payroll and HR-related compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee core finance: AP/AR, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and performance analysis.
  • Manage year-end accounts; liaise with external auditors.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns (Revenue, CSO) accurately and on time.
  • Monitor cash flow, credit control, and working capital.
  • Lead process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
  • Manage REPAK submissions and packaging compliance reports.
  • Provide financial insight to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Mentor junior/support staff and foster a culture of accountability and accuracy.

Essential Requirements

Professional Qualification
Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Payroll & Compliance
Minimum 5 years’ end-to-end payroll experience with Irish statutory compliance (PAYE Modernisation, PRSI, pensions).
Financial Operations
Proven AP/AR, GL, month-end reporting, and audit liaison experience.
Systems & Reporting
Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., Intact, Sage or equivalent) and advanced Excel.
Legislation
Strong knowledge of Irish accounting, tax, employment, and GDPR requirements.

Desirable

  • IPASS / Certified Payroll Technician qualification.
  • Experience within agri-services or a related commercial environment.
  • Track record of process improvement and strengthening internal controls.
