Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced Data Centre Maintenance Technician (Electrical) on behalf of our client for a key role in maintaining critical electrical systems within a high-performance data centre environment. Based in Sandyford, you will play a central role in ensuring system reliability and operational efficiency, contributing to a safe and stable infrastructure. This position is ideal for an experienced electrical technician with knowledge of data centre environments or similar high-stakes settings.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Centre Maintenance Technician (Electrical), your responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical System Maintenance: Perform preventive, reactive, and corrective maintenance on critical electrical systems, including power distribution units, lighting, HVAC, and emergency systems.
  • System Monitoring and Reporting: Inspect and monitor all systems, generating technical reports and escalating issues to management.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs), method of procedures (MOPs), and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
  • Coordination with Subcontractors: Supervise subcontractor activities related to electrical maintenance, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Keep precise records of completed work orders and spare part usage, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.
  • System Isolation and Control: Conduct electrical isolations and operations as a High Voltage (HV) Authorised Person.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Proactively identify and communicate potential risks, implementing solutions to improve system reliability.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of maintenance processes to optimise efficiency.

Scope of Services:

  • Building management system.
  • Lighting Control system.
  • CMMS
  • Air conditioning System, DFU’s, FCU’s, AHU’s and ACU’s
  • Chillers and CHW infrastructure
  • Boilers and Heating Systems.
  • DRUPS and ancillary components. 
  • Single phase and three phase motors.
  • Emergency lighting.
  • Operation of HV systems (training and familiarisation with this system will be made available if required).
  • Fire Detection and Fire Suppression Systems
  • Pumps and VFD’s
  • PDU and Distribution Boards – LV
  • Other Data Centre related infrastructure. 

Skills and Requirements

Ideal candidates should possess the following:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in electrical maintenance, particularly in data centres or critical environments.
  • Certification: HV Authorised Person status or willingness to undertake certification.
  • Education: HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Apprenticeship, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating electrical systems, including BMS, lighting controls, HVAC, and emergency power.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Ability to perform effectively under pressure, independently managing tasks and time.
  • Physical Readiness: Capability to meet the physical demands of the role in a data centre environment.
  • Professionalism: Dependable, punctual, and presentable in appearance.

Note: Candidates with relevant site experience may be considered even if they don’t meet all listed qualifications.
