About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Environment Facilities Technician with a strong background in either mechanical or electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing critical facilities infrastructure, including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, within a data centre environment. This role is crucial in ensuring that all building infrastructure, plant, and equipment operate efficiently and meet service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all critical systems, including UPS, HVAC, and other essential data centre infrastructure.
  • Respond to engineering emergencies and ensure the swift resolution of issues to minimise downtime.
  • Manage the Permit to Work system and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee subcontractor activities on-site, ensuring adherence to contractual commitments and site processes.
  • Prepare and update Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure safe working practices.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, clients, and visitors.
  • Ensure the availability of suitable spares and equipment to facilitate maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and client reporting, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
  • Commit to continuous learning and personal development to stay current with industry standards and best practices.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must possess formal qualifications in either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent trade experience.
  • Proven experience in maintaining mission-critical facilities, particularly within a data centre environment, including UPS systems, HVAC systems, and BMS operation.
  • Strong understanding of building management systems and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Physically fit, able to carry tools and components up to 20kg, and comfortable working at heights.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
