Buyer (Pharma Experience)


Hall Recruitment is seeking a Buyer with pharma experience on behalf of our client, a leading European construction solutions provider. Known for managing complex engineering and construction projects, our client delivers cutting-edge technologies and life-changing advancements for global corporations. Their portfolio spans sectors including Enterprise Data Centres, Advanced Technology & Life Sciences, Hyperscale Data Centres, Fire Protection, and Technical Support Services (TSS). This role will see you at the heart of their operations, optimising procurement processes and managing supplier relationships.

A Day in the Life:

As a Buyer with pharma experience, your day starts with reviewing the procurement schedule and identifying priorities for the week. You engage with project teams to understand their needs, ensuring that procurement aligns with project timelines. Throughout the day, you’ll:

  • Supplier Interaction: Source new suppliers and negotiate terms to secure the best deals. You maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Purchase Order Management: Conduct bid analysis, process purchase orders, and liaise with the accounts payable team to resolve invoice queries.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, providing insights and recommendations to the project teams.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other buyers and the data management team to streamline processes for low-value, high-volume product categories.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify opportunities to eliminate wasteful processes and improve efficiency.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 3 years of construction buying experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in a similar role within an engineering or construction company.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work towards common goals.
  • A third-level qualification in supply chain or a related discipline.
  • Previous ERP experience.
  • Strong business acumen, organisational awareness, and the ability to maintain performance under pressure.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills.
