Data Centre Technician

Key Information

  • Position Type: Full-Time; Permanent
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week; 12-hour rotating shifts (including nights and weekends)
  • Work Environment: Fully On-Site
  • Salary: €54,000 base + 33% shift allowance (up to €71,820 total earnings, depending on roster)
  • Location: Dublin (Grange Castle, Sandyford, Cloghran)

Job Overview

A Data Centre Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical electrical and mechanical systems within a data centre. This includes power distribution, cooling, fire suppression, and networking infrastructure. The role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of data centre facilities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working in a data centre environment and possesses a trade qualification in electrical or plumbing, along with a completed trade apprenticeship. Candidates should be highly organised, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience working in a data centre or similar critical environment.
  • Trade Qualification in Electrical or Plumbing, along with a completed apprenticeship.
  • FETAC Level 6 / City & Guilds Electrical Installation Certification.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, power distribution, and electrical safety procedures.
  • Valid Safe Pass Certification (mandatory in Ireland for construction/engineering work).
  • Manual Handling, First Aid, and Fire Safety Certification.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
