Job Overview
A Data Centre Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical electrical and mechanical systems within a data centre. This includes power distribution, cooling, fire suppression, and networking infrastructure. Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience working in a data centre or similar critical environment.
- Trade Qualification in Electrical or Plumbing, along with a completed apprenticeship.
- FETAC Level 6 / City & Guilds Electrical Installation Certification.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, power distribution, and electrical safety procedures.
- Valid Safe Pass Certification (mandatory in Ireland for construction/engineering work).
- Manual Handling, First Aid, and Fire Safety Certification.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Desirable Requirements
- CDCTP® (Certified Data Centre Technician Professional) or DCT (Uptime Institute Data Centre Technician Certification).
- CompTIA Server+ / Network+ Certification (for IT infrastructure understanding).
- HV (High Voltage) Switching Certification (if dealing with power distribution).
