As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the reliability of mechanical systems and facilities. This on-site role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance, attending to reactive repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing continuous improvement measures to optimise plant performance. You will be part of a dynamic team contributing to building management and facilities engineering.
The ideal candidate will have a strong trade background in plumbing or HVAC systems, excellent technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. Key Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Compliance
Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, including preparing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments. - Preventative Maintenance
Execute planned preventative maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, building fabric, and general plant equipment to ensure minimal downtime. - Reactive Repairs
Perform fault diagnosis and repairs to mechanical systems promptly and effectively. - Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records, including paperwork and checklists, and provide detailed reports on reactive tasks. - Client and Team Collaboration
Liaise with clients, technicians, and helpdesk teams to achieve satisfactory outcomes for all work activities. - Continuous Improvement
Contribute to team meetings, provide feedback on new initiatives, and actively participate in improving operational efficiency. - Audit Assistance
Support quality, environmental, and health and safety audits on client sites. - General Maintenance
Perform tasks such as welding, plumbing, and other building fabric repairs when required.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Recognised trade certification in Plumbing or HVAC systems.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role.
- Proficiency in planned preventative maintenance and fault-finding techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to complete detailed paperwork to a high standard.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) and CMMS software.
- IT literacy with proficiency in Word, Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement principles and processes.
