Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer

Location: Dublin 15
Contract: Permanent
Position: Full-Time
Hours Per Week: 37.5 Hours Per Week

About the Job

As a Quality Assurance & Compliance Officer/Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). Your responsibilities will include overseeing quality processes, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001. Additionally, you will provide training and support to internal teams, manage supplier quality, and lead efforts in quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, develop, and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Write, review, and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that all operational activities comply with ISO 9001.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with quality standards and manage corrective actions.
  • Oversee the document control process, reviewing and signing off on quality-related documents.
  • Manage the change control system, ensuring compliance with the appropriate procedures and providing QA approval of related reports.
  • Assist with the completion of customer questionnaires and ensure Quality Agreements are in place with suppliers.
  • Provide training on quality topics, including SOPs and Quality Systems, to enhance employees’ understanding of quality standards.
  • Work with the Supply Chain Team to manage the Approved Suppliers list, conducting supplier audits and acting as the lead auditor when required.
  • Participate in and host customer audits, ensuring that all corrective actions arising from these audits are completed within required timeframes.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Quality Management Review.
  • Support external audits, both customer and regulatory, as required.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives across the organisation.
  • Provide quality guidance to personnel, ensuring compliance with the QMS.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and organisational skills with a meticulous approach to quality processes. They should be confident working independently while also collaborating effectively with team members.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A third-level qualification in a Science-based subject (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, or related field).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a QA/QC role, specifically within the chemical or food manufacturing industry (chemical manufacturing experience is essential).
  • Strong understanding and experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and review of SOPs.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with Microsoft Business Central is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to apply a meticulous and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience in conducting internal and external audits, including supplier audits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
