About the Job

This is an excellent opportunity for a Facility Maintenance Technician to take on a key role in ensuring the upkeep and reliability of mechanical and electrical systems. You will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance across essential infrastructure, including HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, purified water, and pump systems. In addition to responding to breakdowns, you will also support optimisation efforts to improve performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical or electrical background, with experience working in industrial maintenance environments. You should possess excellent fault-finding skills, be comfortable in a fast-paced setting, and have a strong understanding of safety procedures and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency breakdowns & repairs – Troubleshoot and resolve electrical/mechanical faults efficiently.
  • Conduct fault-finding & root cause analysis – Diagnose and repair issues related to boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, and motors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance – Apply expertise in vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing, and thermal imaging.
  • Operate & maintain facility systems – Maintain HVAC, boilers, compressed air, purified water, and cooling systems.
  • Manage work orders via CMMS (SAP) – Ensure accurate logging and completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety & regulatory standards – Apply LOTO procedures, risk assessments, and health & safety regulations.
  • Liaise with vendors & project teams – Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and contractors to support maintenance projects.
  • Assist with procurement & stock control – Monitor spare parts and order necessary supplies.
  • Provide on-site support during business hours – Flexibility to work occasional Saturday shifts when required.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Electrical or Mechanical Trade Certification – Level 6 QQI / Apprenticeship Certification or equivalent.
  • Industrial Maintenance Experience – Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Knowledge – Expertise in HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, filtration, and motors.
  • Fault-Finding & Troubleshooting – Strong problem-solving skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • CMMS (SAP) Proficiency – Minimum 1 year experience using SAP or similar software.
  • Safety Training & Compliance – Experience working within cGMP & Health & Safety guidelines.

Desirable Skills

  • Advanced Testing Methods – Experience in thermal imaging, vibration analysis, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Maintenance Experience – Ability to work across different engineering disciplines.
  • Strong Communication Skills – Comfortable liaising with engineers, managers, and third-party vendors.
