Job Summary

Hall Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Temporary Payroll Specialist for an established organisation based in Dublin 17.

This is an immediate-start assignment running until December 2026, with the possibility of developing into a permanent opportunity.

You will take responsibility for processing both weekly and monthly payrolls for approximately 200 employees, comprising around 160 employees paid weekly and 40 paid monthly. Working with Sage, you will manage the payroll cycle, ensure information from the organisation’s clocking system is accurately incorporated and complete the associated Revenue payroll returns.

This position requires someone who is already comfortable managing payroll independently and can quickly take ownership of an established payroll process. You will work alongside an existing finance colleague within a small team, so accuracy, organisation and the ability to manage payroll deadlines with limited supervision will be particularly important.

Key Responsibilities

Weekly & Monthly Payroll Processing

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the organisation’s established payrolls.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Process weekly payroll for approximately 160 employees
  • Process monthly payroll for approximately 40 employees
  • Prepare and validate payroll information before processing
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records
  • Review payroll information for errors or discrepancies
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and within required deadlines
  • Maintain appropriate payroll documentation and records
  • Respond to payroll-related queries where required

What to demonstrate in your application: Previous hands-on responsibility for processing payroll independently, ideally involving both weekly and monthly payroll cycles and comparable employee volumes.

Sage Payroll

Sage is the organisation’s existing payroll system and will form a central part of the role.

You will use Sage to process payroll information, maintain employee payroll records and complete the regular payroll cycle.

What to demonstrate in your application: Practical experience using Sage payroll software. Please clearly identify your level of Sage experience and the payroll systems you have previously used.

Time & Attendance / Clocking System

Employee working-time information is captured through an established clocking system which integrates with the payroll process.

You will be responsible for ensuring the relevant time and attendance information is correctly reflected in payroll processing and for identifying discrepancies that need to be resolved before payroll is finalised.

What to demonstrate in your application: Experience working with clocking, time and attendance or payroll-integrated attendance systems would be particularly relevant.

Revenue Returns & Payroll Compliance

You will be responsible for the Revenue-related elements associated with the payrolls you process, including the appropriate filing of payroll returns.

Accuracy and attention to deadlines will be essential to ensure payroll information is processed and reported correctly.

What to demonstrate in your application: Experience processing Irish payroll and completing associated Revenue payroll returns.

  • Confidence reviewing payroll information and identifying discrepancies
  • Strong organisational skills

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a small finance team

Experience processing payroll for a workforce of approximately 200 employees or more would be particularly relevant. Applicants must currently reside in Ireland.

Who This Role Would Suit

This position may suit an experienced:

  • Payroll Specialist
  • Payroll Administrator
  • Senior Payroll Administrator

  • Payroll & Finance Administrator

It would particularly suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of an established payroll function and is comfortable working independently rather than requiring extensive payroll training or supervision.
