This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading Facilities Management provider supporting a major national retail portfolio across the Republic of Ireland. Working within the Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division, you will oversee the technical delivery of facilities services, ensuring engineering standards, contractor performance, statutory compliance, and client expectations are consistently achieved.
This is a highly operational leadership role requiring regular travel throughout Ireland and would suit someone who has experience managing technical facilities services across multiple commercial sites and is ready to take the next step in their career.
Job Overview
As Technical Services Lead, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of Hard Services across a national portfolio of retail locations, together with a smaller commercial client portfolio.
Acting as the primary technical lead, you will work closely with operational teams, specialist contractors, suppliers, and client stakeholders to ensure maintenance services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual obligations.
The successful candidate will provide technical guidance, monitor supplier performance, oversee statutory compliance, review service contracts, and drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.
This role combines technical expertise, contract management, commercial awareness, and client relationship management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational delivery with strategic account management.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Service Delivery
- Lead the delivery of Hard Services across a national portfolio of commercial retail locations.
- Oversee Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and specialist engineering services.
- Ensure technical services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual service levels.
- Support operational teams in resolving technical issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering service delivery.
Contract & Commercial Management
- Review and interpret maintenance agreements, service contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Ensure contractual obligations are delivered in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and commercial objectives.
- Support contract renewals, amendments, service variations, and tender submissions.
- Negotiate service agreements and monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Review contractor quotations, service charges, and commercial proposals.
- Work closely with finance teams on invoicing, budgeting, cost recovery, and financial reporting.
Supplier & Contractor Management
- Manage specialist contractors and engineering service providers across the portfolio.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans where required.
- Ensure contractors maintain all statutory certifications, insurance, and compliance documentation.
- Build long-term relationships with key suppliers while maintaining high service standards.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, statutory maintenance requirements, and industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, audit documentation, and compliance reports.
- Identify operational and contractual risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support internal audits, governance reviews, and compliance inspections.
Client Relationship Management
- Develop strong relationships with client representatives across the portfolio.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Present service reports, performance updates, and improvement initiatives to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure a consistently high level of customer service and operational support.
Essential Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience managing technical facilities services within a multi-site retail, commercial, logistics, hospitality, or food service environment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing Hard Services contracts, engineering service providers, or technical FM contracts.
- Proven experience delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, and contractor management.
- Experience managing supplier performance against KPIs and Service Level Agreements.
- Strong client relationship management experience within a Facilities Management environment.
Technical Knowledge
Applicants must demonstrate a strong understanding of:

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Professional accreditation such as the following is highly desirable:
- IWFM (Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management)
- CFM (Certified Facility Manager)
- CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager)
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
- Equivalent Facilities Management, Procurement, or Contract Management qualifications
Commercial & Contract Management Skills
- Working knowledge of business law, contracting principles, procurement practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting commercial contracts and maintenance agreements.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to evaluate quotations, budgets, costs, and supplier performance.
- Advanced analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Communication & Leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to influence operational teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Comfortable presenting technical and commercial information to senior management.
IT Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using CAFM systems, contract management software, ERP platforms, or supplier management systems.
