Technical Manager

Are you an experienced Technical Services Manager or Facilities Management professional looking to take responsibility for a national retail portfolio and play a leading role in the delivery of Hard Services across multiple client locations? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading Facilities Management provider supporting a major national retail portfolio across the Republic of Ireland. Working within the Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division, you will oversee the technical delivery of facilities services, ensuring engineering standards, contractor performance, statutory compliance, and client expectations are consistently achieved. This is a highly operational leadership role requiring regular travel throughout Ireland and would suit someone who has experience managing technical facilities services across multiple commercial sites and is ready to take the next step in their career.

Reporting to: Account Operations Manager
Remuneration: up to €80k + benefits
 
Overall Purpose of the Job
Technical Manager is responsible for managing all technical and engineering services within a facility or portfolio of buildings. This includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, fire systems, and building infrastructure.
The role ensures assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory regulations while delivering high service standards.

Main duties and responsibilities
• Oversee all hard FM services including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety systems, lifts, and building fabric. 
• Manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance programs. 
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and statutory requirements. 
• Supervise and coordinate contractors, vendors, and in-house engineering teams. 
• Manage service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs). 
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments. 
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets and control costs. 
• Lead incident response for critical system failures or emergencies. 
• Maintain asset registers, maintenance records, and compliance documentation. 
• Support sustainability initiatives, energy management, and efficiency improvements. 
 
Person Specification
• Understanding of regulated facilities related services 
• Understanding of human resource management and being part of a team 
• Understanding of financial budgeting, management and control techniques 
• Working knowledge of service provision contracts and contract administration procedures 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Excellent problem-solving skills 
• Eagerness to learn and progress 
 
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a regulated facilities environment 
Excellent pc skills, including Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint and project 
Suitable experience in Health and safety, and environmental issues
