Job & Company Overview

Are you an experienced supply chain leader who can combine commercial strategy with the hands-on management of forecasting, inventory, third-party logistics and supplier performance?

We are recruiting a Senior Supply Chain Manager to take responsibility for the end-to-end supply chain operation across two growing businesses operating within healthcare and regulated consumer products.

This is a strategic and operational leadership position – not a warehouse management role.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll have responsibility for developing a resilient, scalable and commercially effective supply chain capable of supporting continued growth across Ireland, the UK, Europe and international markets.

You’ll manage relationships with two third-party logistics providers (3PLs), take ownership of a business-critical contract manufacturing relationship, lead demand and inventory planning, oversee supply chain quality and compliance, negotiate major logistics contracts and develop a team of three.

Technology will also form an important part of your remit. You’ll be expected to improve the integration of ERP, EDI and reporting systems while identifying practical opportunities to use automation and AI to improve forecasting, reporting and supply chain decision-making.

This position is best suited to an experienced supply chain professional who is equally comfortable negotiating a commercial contract, analysing inventory performance, challenging a forecast, developing their team and presenting supply chain performance to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Summary

As Senior Supply Chain Manager, you will:

  • Develop and execute the supply chain strategy across two businesses
  • Manage two outsourced 3PL warehouse, fulfilment and freight providers
  • Own a business-critical contract manufacturing relationship
  • Lead demand planning, forecasting, S&OP and inventory optimisation
  • Negotiate logistics, warehousing, fulfilment and freight contracts
  • Manage supply chain quality and compliance responsibilities
  • Improve ERP, EDI, reporting and systems integration
  • Develop executive-level supply chain KPIs and dashboards
  • Identify practical applications for AI and automation
  • Lead and develop a supply chain team of three
  • Support continued growth across Irish and international markets

Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership

You’ll take ownership of the supply chain strategy across two growing businesses, ensuring operational capability keeps pace with commercial growth.

Your focus will be on balancing cost, customer service, resilience and scalability.

You’ll work closely with the CEO and wider leadership team to identify future supply chain requirements, address operational risks and ensure the infrastructure, suppliers, systems and processes are capable of supporting expansion across Ireland and international markets.

While this is a strategic appointment, it requires someone who remains close to day-to-day supply chain performance and is prepared to become directly involved when service, stock or supplier issues require attention.

3PL & Logistics Management

Two third-party logistics providers form a critical part of the supply chain.

You’ll own these relationships across warehousing, fulfilment, delivery and freight, establishing clear expectations and holding partners accountable for agreed performance.

You’ll conduct regular service reviews, monitor SLAs and KPIs, address performance issues and lead tenders or contract renegotiations when required.

Strong previous experience managing 3PL relationships is essential because these external partnerships directly influence customer service, cost and the reputation of the businesses.

Contract Manufacturing

You’ll take ownership of the relationship with a contract manufacturing organisation responsible for producing one of the company’s brands.

This is a business-critical supplier relationship requiring close oversight of service, supply continuity, quality, communication and commercial performance.

You’ll build a strong working partnership while maintaining appropriate governance and accountability to protect continuity of supply.

Demand Planning & Inventory Management

Ensuring the right stock is available at the right time will be one of your most important responsibilities.

You’ll lead demand planning and S&OP processes, improving forecast accuracy and inventory reliability while reducing stock-outs, excess inventory and obsolete stock.

This requires strong analytical capability and an understanding of the relationship between forecasting, customer demand, working capital and service levels.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Customer Service and other teams to ensure forecasts reflect realistic commercial demand and supply chain decisions are supported by reliable data.

Commercial & Contract Negotiation

You’ll have significant responsibility for logistics and supply chain expenditure.

You’ll negotiate warehousing, storage, pick-and-pack, fulfilment and freight agreements, identifying measurable savings while protecting service levels and product quality.

Commercial judgement is therefore essential.

The objective isn’t simply to reduce costs, but to ensure supplier relationships provide sustainable value while supporting the operational requirements of growing businesses.

Quality & Compliance

You’ll oversee supply chain quality and compliance responsibilities, including requirements relating to HPRA, B Corp and Repak, together with future regulatory or sustainability developments relevant to the businesses.

You’ll ensure appropriate processes, documentation and supplier controls remain in place while working with internal and external stakeholders to maintain required standards.

Experience within a regulated product environment will therefore be particularly valuable.

Systems, Data, AI & Automation

The future development of the supply chain will rely heavily on better use of technology and data.

You’ll act as the business lead for supply chain systems improvements involving ERP, 3PL, EDI, reporting and integration projects.

You’ll also identify realistic opportunities to introduce AI and automation into areas such as:

  • Demand forecasting
  • Inventory optimisation
  • Exception reporting
  • Automated workflows
  • KPI reporting
  • Supply chain analytics

This doesn’t require an IT specialist. It requires a supply chain leader who understands how technology can remove manual processes, improve visibility and support better commercial decisions.

KPI Reporting & Continuous Improvement

You’ll establish clear executive-level reporting covering:

  • Forecast accuracy
  • Inventory
  • Service performance
  • Logistics
  • Working capital
  • Cost-to-serve
  • Supplier performance

Using this information, you’ll identify underlying causes of supply chain issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen reliability, service and cost performance.

Team Leadership

You’ll lead, coach and develop a team of three supply chain professionals.

You’ll establish clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, identify development opportunities and create an environment where people understand both their individual responsibilities and how their work contributes to wider business performance.

The organisation values a collaborative and people-focused leadership style, but also requires someone capable of establishing accountability and maintaining high standards.

Requirements

Summary

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10+ years’ progressive experience across supply chain, logistics, planning, procurement or operations
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior supply chain management or leadership position
  • Proven experience managing outsourced 3PL warehouse, fulfilment and freight providers
  • Strong commercial contract negotiation and cost-management experience
  • Advanced demand planning, forecasting, S&OP and inventory management experience
  • Experience improving forecast accuracy and inventory reliability
  • Previous responsibility for leading and developing a team
  • ERP, WMS, EDI or supply chain systems integration experience
  • Experience developing senior-level KPIs, dashboards and management reporting
  • Strong analytical, commercial and communication skills

Relevant Industry Experience

We’re particularly interested in candidates who have developed their supply chain careers within:

  • FMCG
  • Healthcare
  • Consumer health
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Medical devices
  • Retail
  • Regulated consumer products

These environments are particularly relevant because they combine customer service expectations with inventory discipline, supplier management and regulatory requirements.

Experience supporting pharmacy, healthcare, retail, distributor or e-commerce channels would be particularly advantageous.

3PL & Commercial Experience

You must have proven experience managing third-party logistics providers rather than simply working alongside them.

You’ll need to understand warehouse, fulfilment and freight operations sufficiently well to challenge suppliers, evaluate performance, negotiate commercial terms and make informed decisions regarding cost and service.

Experience leading logistics tenders or renegotiating major supply chain contracts would be highly desirable.

Forecasting & Analytical Capability

This is a data-driven position.

You’ll need strong experience with demand planning, forecasting, S&OP and inventory optimisation together with evidence of improving service levels, forecast accuracy or stock reliability.

Advanced Excel, Power BI, business intelligence or data analytics capability would be advantageous.

Technology & Continuous Improvement

Experience participating in or leading ERP, WMS, EDI or systems integration projects is highly desirable.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who are curious about emerging technology and can identify sensible applications for automation, predictive analytics and AI within supply chain operations.

Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement or project management qualifications would be advantageous.

APICS / ASCM CPIM or CSCP qualifications would also be highly regarded.

Who This Role Would Suit

This opportunity would particularly suit an experienced:

  • Senior Supply Chain Manager
  • Supply Chain Manager
  • Head of Supply Chain
  • Senior Logistics & Supply Chain Manager
  • Supply Chain & Operations Manager

who has developed substantial experience managing outsourced logistics operations and is now looking for greater strategic influence across a growing business.

It will particularly appeal to someone who enjoys operating at both levels of supply chain leadership: developing the longer-term strategy while remaining close enough to operations to resolve real-world challenges involving stock, suppliers, forecasting, service and cost.
