School Attendance Officer

School Attendance Officer – Dublin | 12153 | 9-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Term-Time Only | €35,000 Pro Rata | Monday to Friday | Full-Time Hours | August 2026 – May 2027

Job Overview

The School Attendance Officer plays a key role in supporting student attendance, punctuality, and record management across the school.

Working closely with Year Heads, academic staff, students, and parents, you will monitor attendance records, maintain accurate data, communicate attendance concerns, and produce reports to support school management and student welfare initiatives.

This role combines attendance monitoring, administration, CRM and database management, reporting, and stakeholder communication. It is ideally suited to an experienced administrator who enjoys working within an educational setting and can build positive relationships with students and families while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

Attendance Monitoring & Record Management

  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality records across all year groups
  • Review attendance data and identify discrepancies or issues requiring follow-up
  • Track attendance trends and escalate concerns to relevant academic staff
  • Maintain accurate and confidential attendance records
  • Ensure all attendance information is updated accurately within school systems

Parent & Student Communication

  • Act as a point of contact for attendance-related queries from parents and students
  • Communicate professionally via telephone and email regarding attendance matters
  • Record and maintain accurate notes of all attendance-related communications
  • Build positive working relationships with students, families, and staff

Reporting & Data Administration

  • Produce weekly attendance reports for Year Heads and management
  • Prepare attendance statistics and reports for school-wide reporting requirements
  • Support data accuracy across school CRM and student management systems
  • Assist with record keeping and compliance requirements

School Administrative Support

  • Support the wider administration team with operational and academic projects
  • Assist with examination coordination and school events where required
  • Provide support for timetable changes and administrative updates throughout the academic year
  • Assist during Open Days, Graduations, Parent-Teacher Meetings, and other school events
  • Carry out additional administrative duties as required by the management team

Essential Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an administrative role
  • Previous experience within a school, college, university, training provider, or educational environment is highly desirable
  • Experience communicating professionally with parents, students, customers, or stakeholders
  • Experience maintaining records, databases, CRM systems, and producing reports

Technical Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience using CRM systems, databases, student management systems, or similar platforms
  • Strong data entry and reporting skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records

Communication Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Ability to communicate confidently with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Organisation & Attention to Detail

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Professional and confidential approach to sensitive information

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using attendance tracking or student information systems
  • Experience supporting examinations, timetabling, or academic administration
  • Previous experience working with young people within an educational setting
  • Experience producing reports and analysing attendance or performance data

  • €35,000 per annum (pro rata)

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 16:30 pm

Location & Travel

Based on-site in Dublin.
