Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct month-end reconciliations, including bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier accounts.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register across multiple companies.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Generate reports for the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and fulfil statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of:
    • Monthly management accounts
    • Month-end and quarter-end reports
    • Year-end audits
  • Manage VAT, VIES, and Intrastat submissions.
  • Address internal stakeholder queries.
  • Perform ad hoc financial tasks as needed.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance: A minimum of an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Professional Training: Candidates must have passed initial exams with recognised accounting bodies such as CPA, ACCA, or ACA, with credentials verified by Irish bodies like Chartered Accountants Ireland or ACCA.
  • Work Experience:
    • At least 2–3 years of practical accounting experience in a public practice environment.
    • Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with Irish Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including local accounting rules and practices. Candidates with IFRS but no GAAP experience will not be considered.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with a focus on finance, taxation, and/or auditing.
    • Familiarity with the Irish tax system, regulatory environment, and business practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Practical experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
