Quality and Technical Site Lead

Outline:

As a quality and technical site lead you will assist the production and quality/technical department, to ensure the implementation and compliance with HACCP and BRCGS programs to support safe handling of food for this FMCG Irish organisation in your assigned area of responsibility.

Role and Responsibilities:

-Quality Verification-
  • Monitor and ensure traceability and quality standards are maintained throughout production.
  • Audit second and third party/suppliers, as required.
  • Train and advise your team on the latest food safety practices and corrective actions, as needed.
  • Conduct all quality inspections in your assigned area of responsibility regularly. These include:
    • Hygiene checks to ensure cleaning has been done correctly
    • Tools and utensils
    • Maintenance checks
  • Maintain quality objectives including those set for culture improvement, complaints, quality, legality, and certification retention.
  • Liaise with general operations to ensure quality objectives are maintained.
  • Ensure the consistent production of high-quality products through:
    • Accurate inspections such as routine verifications and inspections of production processes (metal detector, frying, and chilling type checks)monitoring production processes
    • Avoiding non-compliance procedures
    • Appropriate reporting,
    • Complete implementation of corrective actions
    • Overview accuracy of paperwork
    • Sample submissions
    • Others as required
  • Work with other departments to implement procedure changes, to remedy the cause of any non-compliance as quickly as possible.
  • Help overview product manufacturing to comply with customer requests and overall sales specifications.
  • Participation in any product recall.
  • Conduct duties in a safe manner and report all safety issues and concerns.

-Quality Improvement-
  • Respond to poor work practices observed.
  • Maintain a testing schedule for all products and processes, and report any deteriorating trends to senior management for correction.
  • Investigate and help to resolve any non-conformances or complaints as required, to ensure the best working environment as possible.
  • Regularly gather and analyse the data collected from daily processes to detect an areas of possible improvement. e.g. waste reduction.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Third Level degree or BA in Food Science/Food Manufacturing/Food Safety.
  • Working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and food legislation.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance or quality systems.
  • Previous experience working in a FMCG environment.
  • Self motivated with the ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent Team player.
