Job Overview

Our client, a leading data centre in Dublin 22, is looking to hire a CE (Critical Environment) Shift Technicians to ensure the smooth and secure operation of their critical infrastructure. This role is tailored for individuals with hands-on technical experience who are eager to work in a high-tech data centre environment. As a CE Shift Technician, you’ll be responsible for conducting routine inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, and environmental monitoring of essential equipment, including HVAC systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and power distribution units (PDUs).

The role requires a flexible and proactive approach, as you will work on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights and weekends. Ideal candidates will have backgrounds in data centre operations, IT support, electrical or mechanical systems, and experience with Building Management Systems (BMS). This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within the data centre industry, with potential for growth and advancement. The position offers a competitive base salary of €54,000 plus a 33% shift allowance, along with comprehensive benefits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Inspections: Perform regular checks on mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring that HVAC units, generators, UPS, and PDUs function effectively.
  • Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Execute planned maintenance tasks on schedule and respond quickly to any equipment malfunctions, prioritising tasks based on impact and urgency.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Track environmental conditions within the data centre, responding immediately to any BMS alarms to maintain safe and stable operating conditions.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with third-party service providers to ensure all repairs and maintenance meet company protocols and service level agreements.
  • Technical Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, meter readings, and any issues identified, producing reports as required.
  • Operational Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic skills to resolve straightforward equipment and system faults, escalating to management when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Certification: Completed apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline, with at least 1-2 years of experience in a data centre or critical environment.
  • Electrical Systems Maintenance: Competent in handling low and high-voltage systems, including experience with UPS and PDUs.
  • Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with HVAC and temperature control systems, especially CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) and CRAH (Computer Room Air Handler) units.
  • BMS Proficiency: Skilled in operating Building Management Systems and responding appropriately to alarms and notifications.
  • Preventative Maintenance Expertise: Demonstrated ability to conduct regular maintenance to industry standards.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual tasks and maintain focus over 12-hour shifts.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong documentation and reporting abilities, with a structured approach to maintenance procedures.
  • Mathematical & Analytical Skills: Comfortable interpreting data and meter readings for effective problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Competent in Word, Excel, and Outlook for communication, reporting, and recordkeeping.
